Feeling overwhelmed or frustrated? Find Hope In Christ

Our hope is in Christ

Feeling scared, overwhelmed, exhausted, or frustrated? Here’s how to find your hope in Christ; based on Romans 8:15-30.

When you lose sight of God and begin to think God doesn’t care or hear your cry, be encouraged! Everything will be OK, God is on the throne.

Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or frustrated? Here’s how to find your hope in Christ.

Have you ever felt hopeless? Maybe you do right now.

  • Never-ending demands on your time and energy.

  • Pulled in a hundred directions with no end in sight.

  • Worries. Exhaustion. Tension. Pain. Sickness. Frustrations. Deadlines.

It seems like there’s no hope and you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As Christians, our hope is not in what we do, or material possessions, or even our health.

Our hope is in the promise of God.

Our hope is in the resurrection of Christ and His return.

Our hope is eternal and in eternity, with Christ in Glory.

If you listen to the news lately you might feel fearful. The news gives little hope even on a good day. When all you hear is negativity and you begin to believe all is lost; when you lose sight of God and begin to think God doesn’t care or hear your cry, be encouraged! Everything will be OK, God is on the throne.

Remember God’s promises:

  • God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that who so ever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

  • God sent his only son into the world, so that we might live through him.

  • If God is for us, who can be against us?

  • And God who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all. How will he not also graciously give us all things?

Hope allows us to keep going when life is difficult.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified” (Romans 8:18-30, NIV).

Where does your hope come from?

“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge” (Psalm 62:5-7, NIV).

There are a lot of people in this world who have lost hope. You can see it in their faces, hear it in their voices, and see it in how they act.

Have you looked around lately? Can you believe the run on toilet paper? The store shelves are empty of things because people are panicking.

We need to be wise and remember our hope is in the Lord. Pray, plan, walk in faith and trust God.

Examples of faith in the bible for guidance and hope

The story of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6:15-18:

Elisha’s servant stepped outside and saw an army of men with horses and chariots and he became afraid. The city was surrounded, and they were after Elisha. In fear the servant cried out “Oh, my lord, what shall we do?”

Elisha was not worried. He trusted God and God delivered them both from the enemy’s hands. His hope and faith was in God almighty.

In Daniel, the story of the three Hebrews in Daniel 3:16-18:

The three Hebrews refused to bow or worship king Nebuchadnezzar. I love their response to the king when he threatened with the fiery furnace. They refused to defend themselves because they relied completely on God to save them; and if God didn’t save them, they still believed they were in God’s hands. Their faith and hope were in God Almighty.

Their hope was in God, but even if God didn’t save them physically, they knew that they would be OK—that God would deliver them.

What to do when God doesn’t answer prayer

Even if God does not answer your prayer; even if you are not physically healed; even when things look dim and you are experiencing trouble in this life: remain steadfast in faith. Your future is secure, your hope is secure, even if you cannot see a way of escape. Know that you will be OK in eternity with Christ. Our hope is not in this physical world. Our hope is in the Lord. We look forward to Jesus’ return.

What is Hope? Hope is faith in the present with an expectation in the future.
